The Ferris Wheel set up at the North end of the ground brings back many happy memories. Keith and Virginia Mcshanag shared a wonderful memory several years ago. Keith proposed to Virgy as he called her
at the top of the Ferris wheel at the Show 1957. I did arrange for them
to have a special ride for their 60th Anniversary which ended up on the front page of the Bendigo Advertiser.
Many special moments over the years at the Show.
Horses have been a big part of our Show from the early days of the Troopers to present.
Clydesdale horses have been a dominant breed at past show with these magnificent horses being the backbone of pioneering Australia. in the 1940’s the horses that were not ridden to the grounds came
on the train. The station being close to the North end gates. In 1978 a former President Walter Car and some breeders of supreme importance in the Clydesdale industry Marriott, Cox, Mahnache family met with our committee and the April Feature Show was formed.
We since have included Miniature Ponies and Shetlands as well as Small Harness.
This Show continues.
We’re introduced Sheep dog trials in 1987 they were a wonderful exhibition loved by everyone. Unfortunately, due to date issues we could not continue past
2013. But with the new master plan to open the area and new buildings they may return.
This year promises to be exciting with large Sheep Numbers.
