Dear readers of the outdoor showman,
Since my last report I have had many positive chats with Shows throughout.
Many Shows continue to ask for support in the way of equipment.
Shows in the Castlereagh area, Oberon in particular, really need commitment of a family size ride.
Please contact the office if you are able to help.
The team in the office are working on a plan of spreading the workload evenly between our executives.
If you are on the Committee or wish to be in 2019, please send through a list of the Shows that you may be present at.
We always need to be improving our communication with our Shows.
It is important for our office to know who is where.
The Rockhampton Council have taken back control of the Rockhampton Show.
The past Society has been dissolved and will not have any input.
We have had a couple of extremely positive meetings and It is looking very promising for the 2019 Rockhampton show.
From the meetings with have agreed that all traditional Showmen’s Guild space to remain as of 2016, the gate price is locked in at $5 entry, our pre-sell will go on sale as of the 1st of December.
The Rocky Show has got the towns support back. This is evident from the amount of competitive sections promising to come back to the Show for 2019.
Planning is well underway for the annual Think Tank on the 8th of January 2019.
All Members are welcome to help out and attend.
It is a great opportunity to meet, discuss and socialise with our Show Societies.
This year the Showmen’s Guild has seen successes in Rockhampton and the Gold Coast Show.
Members have been right to question the risks taken in heading down these paths.
As the President of the Showmen’s Guild I thank you for supporting your Executive Committee in their decisions.
The success in these situations has come from hard work, and great support from our membership.
We will continue to become stronger and work together for the show movement.
Many other Associations and Guilds in this country can learn a lot from the comradely the SGA members hold.
Merry Christmas to you all.
Travel safe and be prosperous over the Summer season.
Luke Hennessy President
