Dear Jerry:
Your Medicare evaluation is enclosed. Please check the information on the client data sheet on
page 1 to make sure it is correct. Also, please verify that the attached list of your Rx drugs,
dosages, and monthly quantities in Appendix C1 is accurate.
Prescription Drug Coverage
Your current prescription drug plan – the Anthem Blue Cross Medicare Rx Gold Plan – will be
discontinued at the end of this year. Unless you change plans before December 7, you will be
automatically re-assigned to a different plan for 2019 – the Anthem Blue Cross MedicareRx
Standard plan.
If you switch to the AARP MedicareRx Saver Plus Prescription Drug Plan prior to December 7,
you will save just over $3,400 next year, and your premiums will drop to $33.10 a month.
Details are shown in a side-by-side comparison of the two plans in Appendix C2.
Here’s how to change prescription drug plans (also called stand-alone drug plans):
Call the AARP enrollment number at (888) 867-5564 and let the representative
know you want to enroll in the AARP MedicareRx Saver Plus Prescription Drug
Plan effective January 1, 2019. Be sure to specify the plan’s exact name and the
fact that it has a $33.10 monthly premium in 2019. There are several AARP-
sponsored drug plans and it’s important to make sure you are enrolling in the
correct one.
You do not need to dis-enroll from your current prescription drug plan. When
Medicare is notified by AARP that you have enrolled in its plan, Medicare will dis-
enroll you from your current plan at the end of December.
