Page 1 - Cover Letter and Evaluation for Marilyn Shelton
P. 1
October 31, 2019
Dear Marilyn:
Your Medicare evaluation is enclosed. Please check the information on the client data sheet on
page 5 to make sure it is correct. Because Medicare has not announced the 2020 Part B
premiums or Parts A&B deductibles, the 2019 numbers are used in the evaluation. The Rx drug
costs shown in the evaluation will not change (unless you change the drugs you take), and the
Medigap premiums shown are current.
You indicated that you will soon be enrolling in Part A and Part B, with an effective date of
January 1. If you haven’t yet done this, you can enroll by calling Social Security at (800) 772-

coverage you want to get a Medigap policy and enroll in a Part D stand-alone plan. Here are the
steps you might follow:
To enroll in the stand-alone drug plan, call the plan’s toll-free number shown on
page 4 of the evaluation and below in the section on Rx drug coverage. When
you call, request that your enrollment become effective on January 1, 2020.
After you are enrolled, you can pay your monthly premiums by check or bank
transfer. Or, since you’ve started receiving Social Security payments, you can ask
that the premiums to be deducted from your monthly payments (as will be the
case with your Part B premiums).
Next, decide which Medigap plan you want – Plan G, Plan N, etc.
Using the premium comparison in Appendices B1 through B5, call a minimum of
three companies that have low premiums for the plan you’ve chosen. The
companies’ toll-free numbers are shown in Appendix B1. Then buy your Medigap
policy from the company that you choose.
Medigap policies

health-related questions. But after that six-month period has past, if you want to acquire a
Medigap policy, you will likely have to answer questions about your health before receiving a
