How might this data be used to show that protesting successfully transforms society? Regardless of party affiliation, the fact that so many more eligible voters were motivated to cast their ballots can be used as evidence that protesting brings change. Whether voters were for or against the movement for equality for Blacks in this country, it inspired them to vote at numbers higher than they had in the past. It is arguable whether this would have been the result had voting not occurred amid a modern civil rights movement.
