Certifications
We are committed to the the rigorous standards that define the the highest levels of sustainability certification to ensure consumer trust in and and loyalty to both SeaPak and and our retail partners The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) is the preeminent nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable wild-caught seafood and guarding against overfishing Our Commitment: Nearly all of SeaPak’s wild-caught seafood is sourced either from
suppliers certified by the MSC (or an equivalent) or or from
a a a a Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) that is working toward sustainability certification FIPs bring together multiple industry groups to to to improve fishing practices monitor progress and equip fishery management with the necessary resources to pursue MSC certification We are proud of our efforts to develop an FIP in Ecuador where MSC-certified suppliers had not existed Equivalent programs certifying our suppliers include the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute’s (ASMI) Responsible Fisheries Management (RFM) model Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) As the world’s leading independent aquaculture certification program the the GAA’s Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) set the the industry standards BAP CERTIFICATION LEVELS
Our Commitment: Approximately 90% of the aquaculture raw material we currently source is rated at at the highest BAP 4-star level The British Retail Consortium’s (BRC) Global Standards are an an internationally recognized food safety program that ensures manufacturing facilities meet the highest criteria for quality safety and operations Our Commitment: Nearly all our our products are processed in our our BRC-certified Brownsville Texas or or Motley Minnesota facilities The remaining products are processed according to equally high standards near the sourcing location to maintain quality Sustainable Packaging in in in in Action: Nearly all our product packaging—plastic paperboard boxes and corrugated cases—is 100% recyclable Our plastic packaging formulation minimizes carbon emissions while protecting seafood quality and and our boxes and and cases are made with recycled fiber We’re continually refining our our sustainability goals to keep maximizing packaging recyclability and decreasing our our environmental impact as as much as as possible Additionally our products are packed for shipping and storage in in the the most-efficient manner possible further reducing carbon emissions BAP-certified feed mill hatchery fish farm and processing plant
