Rosslyn Duncan - Valley Bank
When looking for top business leaders for this award, the combination of leading their business to success, doing great service for the community, and being
a respected leader are the attributes that make them stand out. This year’s Business Person of the Year, Rosslyn Duncan, is all that and more. Managing a team of around 100 people, she has exceeded expectations for performance as a leader in many areas. Her skills and abilities have led Valley Bank to success despite the challenges of the pandemic. Rosslyn found ways to help Valley Bank stay open when others struggled to do so. Her leadership and care for her employees is professionalism with a big heart personified. The business’s sup- port of the community, individuals, customers, and the industry are a testament to her leadership.
Rosslyn is fair and ensures that her employees are promoted for their excellence, leadership, and integrity and she sets the standard for all to strive towards high performance. As an instructor in her field, she is the only one who has received perfect marks and evaluations from her students over decades of teaching.
Rosslyn has served on many boards for the community including the Friendship Center (former board chair), St. Peter’s Health, St. Peter’s Foundation, and more. All will give testimony to her contributions of time and care to their missions and organizations. She was the Montana Lady Champion in Sporting Clays for five years and also served on the Montana Sporting Clays Association board as an officer.
With over 40 years of experience and excellence in banking, she lives out the bank’s mission statement of service and care where “being kind matters.” This is something we all could learn from and apply in our lives today to make the world a better place.
We are very pleased to award our 2021 Business Person of the Year to none other than Rosslyn Duncan, President/CEO of Valley Bank of Helena.

2021 Volunteer of the Year Arlene Flynn - WestMont
Volunteers are tremendously important to the Chamber. With a small staff, we need to have volunteers to expand the amount of work we can accomplish in a year. It takes over 6000 hours of volunteer work in a normal Chamber year.
This award is very meaningful because members do not have to help, they choose to help. Our award recipient this year is an amazing person. She is a person with a huge heart and has volunteered for the Chamber for nearly two decades in many different roles and capacities. Most recently, Arlene led the Chamber’s Member Services Committee and she led by example. This committee staffs all of our events and attends our ribbon cuttings,
groundbreakings, and work at our Business After Hours. She has been at nearly all that she could get to over many years and was always so welcoming to Chamber members and guests. She is one of the kindest and most sincere people you could meet.
Arlene started her work for the Chamber nearly two decades ago as our Chamber Membership Director. When she left to work for WestMont, she really never left us, she just kept volunteering. We’re going to miss her since she just retired but wish her well.
Congratulations to Arlene Flynn as our 2021 Volunteer of the Year!
