 HIT THE TRAILS
Nestled in the heart of the Rocky Mountains lies a treasure map
of 75+ miles of singletrack trails, some just walking distance from downtown Helena. The “South Hills Trails” are considered Helena’s backyard by those who run, bike, walk, or hike. This comprehensive trail system is enjoyable for all skill levels.
Our trail system exists thanks to the stewardship of many community partners, especially Prickly Pear Land Trust. Their dedication to connecting land and people ensures Happy Trails for current and future generations.
TRAIL TIPS
• TRAILS ARE MULTI-USE. Please be aware and considerate of other trail users. Yielding practices apply.
• DOG FRIENDLY. Furry friends are welcome on the trails. Please pack out doggie waste and follow on-leash rules.
• THE HILLS ARE WILD. Although accessible from downtown, the South Hills are home to many wild species. Don’t forget your reusable water bottle, map (or downloaded map), and cellphone.
South Hills trails cross lands managed by the City of Helena, the Helena National Forest, the Bureau of Land Management, and some trails cross private property. To maintain and secure long-term access, please respect private property by staying on the trails.
