Time
By Angel Simkins
Beauty always seems to be
more eye gorging when in its finality
Piercing our heart
Regretting to only now
Be taking in its divinity
Tick Tock Tick Tock
Losing familiarity as we all grow up
Remembering memories of who we used to be
Observing our dead identities
Tick Tock Tick Tock
5 to 6 then 7 now 8
We eventually find our mortal bodies
knowing time to meet our fate
Same mind but a wrinkled face
Tick Tock Tick Tock
Where we are forced to lie
With emotion we refused to look eye to eye
Tick Tock Tick Tock
Using our last breaths to exhale regret
leaving words that were left unsaid
Tick Tock
Wondering what could have been
Tick Tock
If we knew our time limit, would we act differently?
Would we take more time to admire what cannot be recreated? Tick Tock
Would we put up with the life we live
If we knew that in the end
Tick Tock
We would only feel regret?
Tick Tock
Too caught up in our head
Tick Tock
And only so much time
Tick Tock
Until it all
Tick Tick
stops.
