    CEO MESSAGE
STRIVING TO BE A “3-C CHAMBER”!
CATHY BURWELL // PRESIDENT/CEO
Chambers are changing their focus and priorities all over the nation and beyond. A few months ago, I attended a conference where a presentation from Dave Kilby of the Western Association of Chambers made a huge impact on how
    CATHY BURWELL
I perceive the future for the Helena Area Chamber of Commerce. Dave talked to us about the concept of “3C Chambers”.
While some chambers are still operating as “3P Chambers” . . . Parties, Parades and Pageants, I believe the Helena Chamber needs to continue our focus towards being more of a “3C Chamber” – a Catalyst for Growth,
a Convener of Leaders & Influencers, and a Champion for Business and a Thriving Community. We have been working towards this over recent years and our focus continues to be ensuring that the Helena Area Chamber
is THE organization that is getting it done for our business members and for the community.
As a Catalyst for Growth – we have stepped to the plate with the Helena WINS Workforce Development program to address the #1 issue for nearly all area businesses – recruiting, retaining, and developing their staff. We are hopeful our efforts to fund a fulltime position to drive our workforce programs and efforts will be supported by our members and ensure we have someone totally focused daily on the issues. We work hand in hand with MBAC on many programs and efforts to help new entrepreneurs, help current businesses with their challenges, and maintain a vibrant business community to serve the Helena Area.
As a Convener of Leaders & Influencers – we constantly work on having
great relations with local and state (and even national) elected officials to address business challenges and needs. Our Chamber Board has 6 ex-officio directors/ liaisons which helps to keep that chain of information, influence, and partnership at our table on a regular basis.
As a Champion for Business and a Thriving Community – your Helena Chamber is constantly standing up for business, not only at the legislature,
but also with local government. Occasionally, we advocate on national issues
that affect the local economy & businesses. We’ve got your back and all that
the Helena Chamber does has a positive effect on the vibrancy of our greater community. We are always working to make the Helena Area a better community to work, live and play in.
Businesses need to be aware of all that the Helena Chamber does - the programs we offer to help business, the advocacy efforts we champion, the opportunities to promote your business, the opportunities to meet and network with peers and prospective clients, the business and tourism promotion done by the Helena Chamber and also the people that make up the chamber – board, staff and membership.
The check your business pays for membership in the chamber is not “to keep the chamber in business” – it is to “help the
chamber keep your business in business”! ■
