of excellence
A Celebration of Excellence honors outstanding graduating seniors at the culmination
of their careers as Helena Public School students. The Helena Education Foundation then empowers these students to honor educators who have had a positive impact on them during the course of their education. Public recognition of students and educators is at the core of the Foundation’s mission because it
n Highlights the community’s support for hard-working public school students and educators;
n Demonstrates the critical partnership among schools, home, businesses, and the community;
STUDENTS
n Offers younger students positive role models and a goal for which they can strive;
n Fosters confidence and appreciation among public schools, parents and guardians, businesses, and the community.
The Celebration of Excellence showcases the extraordinary efforts of students in the classroom, the school, and in the wider community. Seniors earn the Distinguished Scholar distinction by meeting a set of rigorous criteria developed by high school students, teachers, and administrators; these criteria include grade point average, number of honors and advanced placement and other higher level courses, and total credit hours. Educators nominate students as Distinguished Achievers based on their excellence in specific curricular areas, leadership, service, or for overcoming obstacles to achievement. HEF and the School District administrators regularly review and update criteria to remain compatible with current course offerings.
EDUCATORS
The Celebration of Excellence gives Distinguished Students the opportunity to each thank an educator who has had a significant, positive impact during their time in the Helena Public Schools. The Helena Education Foundation brings the community together to applaud these educators for sharing their skills, experience, and passion with Helena’s young people. They make a difference in our schools and community, one student and one class at a time.

The mission of the Helena Education Foundation is to enrich education in the Helena Public Schools through consistent community investment of time, talent, funding and other resources, providing students, staff, and the community with unparalleled educational opportunities and experiences.
