First period on the first day of high school, the new kid from Maryland met her future Distinguished Educator, Mr. Ward. Here I made multiple best friends, chatting (instead of working) on the old couch in the back of the classroom. Fast forward to my miserable Junior year.
I, once again, found myself in Mr. Ward’s first period for AP Language. His empathy and patience for my consistent tardiness and late assignments are admirable. He never failed to humble me with a sarcastic comment, but deep down he holds a kindness that is unforgettable for students like me.
