HISTORICAL WORK L
 CWG Architecture
650 Power Street History:
The office of CWG Architecture, located in the historic mansion district near downtown Helena has a rich history. The building, originally built in 1891, served as a stable which held Senator T.C. Power’s team of black horses and hand-crafted carriages. After Senator Power’s death, the main mansion and its carriage house were given to the Helena Catholic Dioceses by his son. The carriage house was then used as the Bishop’s home as well as the administrative headquarters for the Diocese of Helena before being obtained by CWG Architecture as an office building in 1981. The building currently serves as a multi-purpose space with offices and two apartment units.
In 2018, CWG completed a remodel on the office portion of the building. To ensure the historic character was preserved, CWG’s designers worked closely with Pam Attardo at the Historical
Society. Her assistance allowed for
any alterations to the exterior of the
building to add richness to the historic neighborhood and not jeopardize
altering any important historic
elements. The building’s interior
renovations included updating the workstations, lighting, finishes, and amenities. The office has a reception area, five individual offices, three open multi-person workspaces, a conference room, breakroom, and
materials vault. The timeless design of the interior pays homage to the buildings history while creating a workspace with modern amenities.
Oddfellow Inn & Farm / Maison
2245 Head Lane History:
The Oddfellow was originally built in 1928 as the Montana Home for the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, playing host to retirees, widows, and orphans. The building has an old-world charm and is situated on a 41-acre working farm. Since the mid 70's the Oddfellow's home has had three owners and has operated as a bed & breakfast and event center. Currently,
the Oddfellow Inn & Farm is a fully functioning Inn, Farm, and the location of Maison, a farm to table French Bistro. Here you can enjoy getting away from it all, 10 minutes from downtown Helena. Their rooms are simple but elegant, without televisions and invite you to enjoy some time by the pond or take in the splendid view of Mount Helena. You can spend time with the animals or just listen to nature. Adjacent to the Prickly Pear Land Trust, Sevenmile Creek Restoration Project, and near the head of the Centennial Trail, the Oddfellow offers wide-open views and peace of nature.
