*Quotations and statistics are from Philip Simon Miller: Butcher, Banker and Benefactor written by Debbie Buboltz- Bodle which was copyrighted in 1998. We need to thank Debbie for her extraordinary e orts in researching and writing this book. I saw this book on the bookshelf of Dru Campbell, the O ce Manager for the Commissioners in 2017; I borrowed the book and read it. I was amazed at all that Mr. Miller had done for Douglas County and have repeated his story often when it’s appropriate. Then in September 2020, the county honored Mr. Miller at a Business meeting on the 40th Anniversary of the Philip S. Miller Perpetual Charitable
Trust. Ms. Buboltz-Bodle spoke at the Business meeting and presented me with an autographed copy of this book that I’ve used to tell the extraordinary story
of a benefactor whose love of this county is carried on through his gifts. It is not
my intent to take any credit but more to share Debbie’s memories of the man for whom her father worked for many years and Debbie knew and interviewed for this book. If you’d like to purchase a copy of this book for yourself, email Debbie or call her at 303-688-4090.
