is coming this Spring!
This new playground will include incredible new features to enhance the quality of life for hundreds of people with disabilities in our community. It will have all the coolest play features, and pavilions and gathering places. The new accessible playground will showcase bright colors and smart design. For example, it will have a sensory wall, a barefoot walk, and it will feature platform entry or “zero-entry” access to equipment for people who use wheelchairs.
Butterfield Park has been home to countless swim lessons and sports practices over 3 decades. It is the location for the popular summer series Music in the Meadows, and the youth triathlon Tri the Rock. High-demand amenities will be added, such as lighted pickle ball courts and now, this state-of-the-art barrier-free sensory playground.
In 2022, we raised about $1MM through community giving and sponsorships. We are committed to raising the remaining funds and know we can do it with your help! We received an anonymous gift of $100,000, and we invite you to have your gift doubled through April 30th, making a huge impact! The remain- der of the funds will be used to purchase the final equipment - a wheelchair friendly merry-go-round - and provide the final build- out of the playground.
You may have heard about the project to renovate the 30-year-old Butterfield Park. A partnership between the Castle Rock Parks and Trails Foundation and the Town of Castle Rock is adding an upgraded play-scape for people with disabilities, the “Possibilities Playground”
