Answer to Trivia question:
Jack Cauley has been Castle Rock Police Chief since January 2012. He began his law
enforcement career in 1984 as a dispatcher for the Lenexa Police Department in Kansas, and then served the Overland Park Kansas PD for 25 years. While at Overland Park, Chief Cauley served as a patrol o cer, detective, lieutenant, captain, major and lieutenant colonel (Deputy Chief). His education includes a B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration from Central Missouri State University and an M.A. in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy. Jack’s hobbies are gol ng, biking, and spending time outdoors. His favorite thing about Castle Rock is that the people are nice, supportive, and welcoming. By the way, Chief Cauley’s brother served in law enforcement and retired as a deputy chief of the Leawood, Kansas Police Department.

The failure of the dam and the loss of the reservoir was a great blow to the farmers who had depended on that water supply to irrigate their crops. It was unknown

The Douglas County Relief Committee organized the e ort to start work for the unemployed men who would receive $30 per month plus board and clothes.
A March 16, 1972, article in the Douglas County News reported a
meeting was held to discuss building a 4700-acre recreation- ood control dam
in Castlewood Canyon under review by the Army Corps of Engineers.
A June 6, 1974, article in the Douglas County News about Castlewood Dam ends with this sentence, “People still trek out to Castlewood Canyon to see the ruins of the dam which sometime has been called ‘A monument to man’s ineptitude.’ ”
In January 1991, Frank Jaeger, who was the manager of Parker Water & Sanitation, believed that Castlewood Canyon could once again be a viable water storage facility. After a two-year court battle with the State of Colorado, the owner of Castlewood Canyon, the second iteration of the Castlewood Canyon Dam was rejected in favor of constructing Reuter-Hess Reservoir in Parker.
If the center of the dam had failed  rst, the loss of life would have been tremendous.
