A Message to Readers:
Frequently on social media, I see negative comments regarding the expansion and development of Castle Rock, Larkspur and surrounding communities. Unfortunately for those nay-sayers, change is both inevitable and predictable given the increase in the population of Douglas County. There are opportunities to participate in the planning process and give your input to government of cials. The Castle Rock Town Government and Larkspur Town Hall are always looking for volunteers to serve on commissions, advisory committees and councils to participate in the community and economic development process. Anyone who has the time and talent might want to consider becoming an active volunteer to positively impact these changes within our community. My goal in this monthly column is to inform our readers about current and planned changes going on around the Town of Castle Rock, Parker, Colorado Springs and Larkspur without making judgement or editorial comments. ~ Wade
Housing Development in Parker:
The Garrett Companies, are currently building a large-scale housing project called Echelon. This will be a total of 17 three-story apartment buildings containing 238 residential units, and 505 parking spaces which are to be provided via 169 attached garage spaces and 336 surface parking spaces. A clubhouse / leasing o ce, a pool, and a dog park are also being planned. Back in June 2, 2020 - Town Council reviewed the proposal and voted 4-3 to approve theSiteDevelopmentPlan. The developer has since changed the name of the project from Caliber at Terrain to Echelon, in response to feedback from residents in the area. This project is fully approved and underway. It will have a substantial footprint and be visible to most Parker residents as they drive past this project.
North Basin Village at Terrain:
It seems that everywhere you look around Castle Rock, there are new housing developments popping up all around town. CORE Consultants, on behalf of Stratus Terrain, submitted an application for a site development plan (SDP) for North Basin Village at Terrain Phase 2. Located within the northern portion of the Terrain Planned Development, the SDP proposes a total of 105 single-family homes situated in two planning areas along Castle Oaks Drive and a 150-acre open space dedication. Construction is underway and the roads/infrastructure is nearly complete. Thisprojectofcourse, willbeamajoraddition
