Enchant Campers
Summer camp season at the Dumb Friends League has come to an end, leaving campers with great memories, fresh knowledge and new furry friends.
Young attendees at this summer’s 4-day Critter Camp, held at the Dumb Friends League Buddy Center, learned how to be safe around animals and worked hands-on with ambassador dogs to learn training techniques. Experienced and enthusiastic sta , guest speakers and some critters o ered campers a week of learning through activities, games and crafts.
Eager campers wrote and delivered brief speeches about their experiences. Some excerpts:
“My favorite thing in camp is that we got to play with animals, and that I made friends. I will never forget my time at critter camp.”
“ ese past few days at Critter Camp have been great. I have learned so much. I enjoyed meeting the animals. e kittens are so sweet! And I would love to adopt from the Dumb Friends league.”
“I think critter camp was the best my favorite part was playing with the kittens this week I learned about click training it was so fun I’m totally going to critter camp next year.”
Meanwhile, nearby at the Harmony Equine Center in Franktown, fteen young horse lovers attended this summer’s two-day Equine Exploration Camp. Kids from third through sixth grade learned about horse anatomy and body language, grooming, saddling, how to safely meet a horse and how to help homeless equines in Colorado. Trainers at the center demonstrated di erent gaits, and kids enjoyed horse-themed activities and games, as well.

Shotzy stands at 15.0H and is a new arrival to Harmony and has entered our program as a riding horse. She likes to go out on trail rides and has a great time with it. She seems to enjoy trail riding and would make a great ranch horse as well. She would do best with an intermediate or advanced rider. Shot- zy is up to date on her farrier work, dental work, deworming and vaccinations.
