Studies show an alarming trend as the LGBTQ youth homelessness and suicide rates continue to rise, while practical, shame-free shelters remain sparse in the Midwest. That’s why the sisters decided the Liberty House rental profits would be dedicated to those organizations providing practical resources to LGBTQ youth in the Midwest. The sisters are very concerned about organizations that lobby for discriminatory bills or advocate for the mistreatment, harassment, assault, or even the deaths of members of the LGBTQ community. They fear these recurring sentiments effect society’s attitudes towards this targeted community, which in turn affects the health and well-being of LGBTQ youth, and contend these organizations stand as contributors to the rising number of LGBTQ youth homelessness and suicide rates. The sister’s Big Dream is to ensure safe, secular-based shelters are in place for LGBT+ youth across the Midwest and will continue to advocate for the growing need for this valuable and necessary resource.

Steeped in history and into the very fabric of who we are, if ever there was a place to remind us of who we are, where we are, and why we are here – the sisters think it is here - in what is referred to as America’s Heartland. What better place to have this discussion, than right here, at this unique cultural
crossroads in America?
