One of the battles our union has been faced with is organizing under right-to-work laws that are on the books or being pushed by politicians across the country. The Commonwealth of Virginia is one place where our members are working hard to grow our union and provide our carpenters with the wages and bene ts on job sites that will help them support their families. When Facebook made the decision to build and operate a new data center in the Commonwealth, it meant great things for both Facebook and the hard-working brothers and sisters of our union. Getting this contract has been
a signi cant victory for KML Carpenters.
Facebook is employing over 1,300 construction workers in the Henrico County area to build the project. Of that total, 175 are Keystone + Mountain + Lakes Regional Council of Carpenters members, many of whom have been working for the past two years. The job site is 130 acres and will include seven buildings. This massive project called for highly skilled labor and Facebook decided that KML Carpenters were the best choice to complete the work.
