KMLRCC RAISES MONEY FOR WWII VETERAN’S TRIP TO NORMANDY
KMLRCC Leadership and Locals assisted in raising money for one of their own this summer. Local 167 member and United States Military Veteran, Stanley Friday, was invited to attend the 75th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion in Normandy, France. This invitation by a local veterans organization required $6,000 from Stanley so that he could travel with his fellow veterans in remembrance of this somber and important occasion.
Our brothers and sisters made it a priority to raise the necessary funds to assist Stanley as well as his wife in making this once in a lifetime trip. While in France, Stanley was one of ve Americans awarded the Knight of the Legion Honour medal by French President Emanuel Macron and personally congratulated by President Donald Trump.
The 75th-anniversary trip was heavily covered by local and national news media outlets. Fox 29 News aired a news story about Stanley making this trip, Stanley was pro led by CBS Morning News, and sat down with ABC World News Tonight Host David Muir.
Thank you to all the locals and union carpenters that helped make this a reality.
