705 The thoughtless, the ignorant, and the indolent, seeing only
706 the apparent effects of things and not the things themselves,
707 talk of luck, of fortune, and chance. Seeing a man grow rich,
708 they say, "How lucky he is!" Observing another become
709 intellectual, they exclaim, "How highly favored he is!" And
710 noting the saintly character and wide influence of another,
711 the remark, "How chance aids him at every turn!" They do
712 not see the trials and failures and struggles which these men
713 have voluntarily encountered in order to gain their
714 experience; have no knowledge of the sacrifices they have
715 made, of the undaunted efforts they have put forth, of the
716 faith they have exercised, that they might overcome the
717 apparently insurmountable, and realize the Vision of their
718 heart. They do not know the darkness and the heartaches;
719 they only see the light and joy, and call it "luck"; do not see
720 the long and arduous journey, but only behold the pleasant
