749 The calm man, having learned how to govern himself, knows
750 how to adapt himself to others; and they, in turn, reverence
751 his spiritual strength, and feel that they can learn of him and
752 rely upon him. The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater
753 is his success, his influence, his power for good. Even the
754 ordinary trader will find his business prosperity increase as
755 he develops a greater self-control and equanimity, for people
756 will always prefer to deal with a man whose demeanor is
757 strongly equable.
758 The strong, calm man is always loved and revered. He is like
759 a shade-giving tree in a thirsty land, or a sheltering rock in a
760 storm. Who does not love a tranquil heart, a sweet-tempered,
761 balanced life? It does not matter whether it rains or shines,
762 or what changes come to those possessing these blessings, for
763 they are always sweet, serene, and calm. That exquisite poise
