Fifthly, personal stories act as arms-length metaphors. The story is about the story teller and what they’ve learned about life; it is not about the audience. BUT, because it is not about them, the audience accepts the information and then they entertain the ideas and project their own situation onto the story. You could say, they get it by osmosis.
Sixthly, stories can help people understand complex ideas that are difficult to understand intellectually.
