       DEVELOPING YOUR PRESENTATION SKILLS
“A man learns to skate by staggering about and making a fool of himself. Indeed, he progresses in all things by resolutely making a fool of himself.”
– George Bernard Shaw
You should be very proud of yourself! If you look back at what you have achieved already in life, you are doing really well. So, congratulations! If you think about everyone who has ever lived on this little planet throughout time, you are doing pretty well compared to most people. You are probably doing pretty well compared to most of the seven billion plus people alive on the planet right now.
You have already developed some impressive skills. If you are reading this, you can read – that’s impressive! If you can read, you can write, too. You can probably talk out loud and listen and understand other people as they talk to you – that’s impressive!
You can probably also move around on your feet. Maybe you can even run around and skip and jump. The fact is, you have learned to do some extraordinary things. And not just that, you continue to learn every day.
Often, as we grow older we slow down the rate at which we learn, but much of this is optional. One of the things that tends to stop people from becoming better speakers and presenters is the myth of the natural speaker – those silver- tongued devils with the gift of the gab and the confidence to speak to anyone! But what do we actually mean when we say natural speaker?
