Soledad Serrano Discusses Finca Duernas’ Step into the U.S. Market
After building a large consumer base in Europe and Asia, the company settles into stateside businesspreservation process.

The saying goes that some things get better with age. This is true of Finca Duernas, the olive oil-manufacturing estate founded by the Serrano-López family in stunning Córdoba, Spain, over 200 years ago.
“For more than 200 years, we have been growing and harvesting the very best olives in order to produce a truly unique extra virgin olive oil,” CEO Soledad Serrano tells me. “The family and its estate are invested in the improvement of the earth, its cultivation, and our duty as stewards, to produce quality, professional work.”
“Our Arbequina is a sweet olive juice that makes a perfect, healthy substitute for butter, and it works perfectly well for baking. Our Picual is more robust but enhances the natural taste of any meat or sauces,” Soledad differentiates. “The Arbequina is fruity on the nose, buttery, and sweet and has a voluptuous mouth feel with a peppery finish. The Picual is reminiscent of green grass with a pleasant butter aftertaste with a more intense peppery finish.”
The design aesthetics invite consumers to invest in an experience that these oils offer, with captivating and eye-catching colors that pop on the shelf. The company’s packaging choice is purposeful, too, preserving the EVOO with thoughtfully-employed design choices and making the choice for Finca Duernas olive oils even more enticing. “The bottle itself is beautiful, made of glass painted white as a symbol of purity with distinctive shapes to differentiate the Picual and Arbequina while keeping the light away to protect the EVOO,” she explains to me.

   After establishing itself throughout Europe
and Asia, the company has recently made its first appearance in the U.S. market, where it
is looking forward to flourishing demand for its products and to relationships that will establish
it as a go-to source for luxurious and beautifully crafted olive oils. Soledad’s brother Alberto has already made his way to San Diego, developing the company’s relationships in the U.S. market.
“We are currently present in many other countries, but for the U.S. market, it has been very important to become local and have an office in the country. For us, it has been a major breakthrough, and we believe that it is going to make a huge difference all over,” she explains.
Once stateside, Alberto established Finca Duernas within the industry, aligning the company with European Imports. These new-to- the-U.S. products have carved out a name for themselves abroad, with distinctive tastes that translate into luxurious and pointed baking and cooking options.
The beautiful thing about this company and what they offer consumers is its drive to create genuinely delicious oils that assist in the production of good food. With this in mind, the company
has found success in its ability to
offer authentic products, which has
taken its products all over the world
into many markets before its recent
positioning in the U.S.
“All of our clients have one thing
in common: they are passionate
for authentic, good food, and that
is just what we offer—a genuine,
fresh fruit juice, full of aromas
and flavor. This is an increasing
transversal demand, from Europe
to the U.S. and Asia.”
The tastes the oils offer are steeped in tradition, as the company focuses on the oils that it has spent so many years creating and perfecting to assist in the orchestration of full-bodied experiences food offers when shared with those we love.
