Darien High School
Jacob scored 1530 on the SATs (740 critical reading and writing; 790 math). He had a score of 35 on his ACT and has a GPA of 4.23.
He earned varsity letters for soccer and outdoor track for four years and indoor track for two. He also played basketball for two years.
Academic awards: University of Virginia Thomas Jefferson book award; American Mathematics Competition 10, second in school; World Language Honors Society; National Honor Society; Mu Alpha Theta (Math Honor Society); National Spanish Exam Bronze Medal and Seal of Biliteracy.
In athletics, he was captain of the indoor track team, a member of the 4x400 indoor track school record holder team, two-time state championship competitor in outdoor track and a two-time state and State Open qualifier in indoor track. He was also a starter on two
state tournament qualifying soccer teams.
Extracurricular activities have included lead drummer in the award-winning jazz ensemble, DECA Competition Club participant, band, Western Region High School Festival, member Math Modeling Club and two-time president of Global Connect Club.
Throughout his high school career, Jacob has volunteered weekly at a senior living center. He started helping generally but has recently assisted an 89-year-old playwright and author organize her writing and plays.
He is also a president of a philanthropic club at his high school that has donated hundreds of pounds of food to a local food bank, through fundraisers more than $1,000 in donations to Americares to fund hurricane relief programs, and more than 1,000 items of clothing to a local organization that provides under privileged children, through high school age, new and gently used clothing. The group provides
free of charge shopping so children can experience being in a store and picking out their own clothes.

Benjamin scored 1590 on the SATs (790 critical reading and writing; 800 math) and had a 4.67 GPA, which puts him in the highest portion of the GPA distribution in the school.
He earned varsity letters in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track, participating in track all four years and cross country three.
His academic awards include: National Merit Scholarship semi- finalist; AP Scholar with Distinction, Yale University Book Award; Governor’s Scholar Award semi- finalist; Elizabeth Leete Award (highest GPA); and school Scholar- Athlete Award twice.
