 – PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE –
   CHSCA Members and Friends,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 sports season – and the effects COVID-19 has had on our seasons. Despite all the restrictions and changes that have hampered our coaches and athletes, I am proud and amazed at how the sports community has adapted through the uncertainty of the seasons.
In the face of the criticism and doubters, our sports committees, coaches and athletic directors have endured, they have applied safety protocols, practices, skill sessions and teaching methods to stay within the given guidelines – displaying commitment, ingenu- ity, creativity and adaptability to the sports programs.
During these times, the CHSCA has collaborated with all stake- holders. Under the leadership of our Executive Director, Joe Can- zanella and our fine executive
DEB PETRUZZELLO
board, changes have occurred: to the website; membership forms; and methods of communication. Just as our coaches need to contin- ue to constantly learn and grow, the CHSCA must also keep evolv- ing in these changing times. It is up to us, the membership, to keep the organization well-respected throughout the state and coun-
mtry – as John Fontana and the founding members envisioned and made it to be.
Difficult decisions have been and will continue to be made to benefit our coaches and student athletes, with equity, opportunity and recognition in mind. The pan- demic has created rocky roads to travel, but we have done, and will continue to do, the best for our athletes. Kudos to the many who have done so.
Now is the time for coaches to get involved in the association. Join a committee, assist with spe- cial events (athlete/coach/league recognition), tell us your “Aha” moments, kudos, your problems. Do not be afraid to share your knowledge and continue to learn about your sport! We are all in this together. Stay safe!
