Improving skills and
building capacity
As a learning organisation, professional development is a key part of our offering. Teachers and Teaching Artists took part in 17 extensive professional learning sessions in 2021 including webinars delivered by
Song Room arts education experts, in-person and online training and collaboration sessions for Teaching Artists, and tailored professional learning workshops on specific school contexts and pandemic challenges facing students and schools.
Teaching Artists were provided with additional support and guidance in regular professional learning and mentoring sessions with Song Room arts learning experts throughout the year.
In-class teacher mentoring took place in most of The Song Room’s Arts Learning programs including its specialist professional development program DUET, and as a critical part of TLC and Deadly Arts.
In 2021, 617 teachers and 77 Teaching Artists received professional development from a Song Room arts education specialist.
