In peak season, English Harbour is a hive of activity with, Life on the Corner (T. 722-0020), the Lime Lounge (T. 562-8336) and Colibrì-Bistro-Bar & Lounge (T. 460-3434) all well worth a visit.
Club Sushi (T. 725-9395), at the Antigua Yacht Club, stages regular DJ and quiz nights and South Point, further down the road to Pigeon Pont features Live Music on Thursday from 10 pm and on Sundays from 2.30pm come and experience this great ambience right at the water’s hedge.
Over on the west coast, Jolly Harbour is home to a number of up tempo venues. Al Porto is famous for their live music on Monday nights and all you can eat Pizza (T.562-7848). Castaways Beach Bar and restaurant now under new ownership (T. 562- 4446) remains a great spot to kick back and look out for the famed green ash during evening happy hour, to enhance their operation is the addition of Indian cuisine. At West Point you can tuck into barbecued fare while a DJ spins some eclectic tunes. Just outside the harbour on the main road is a rapidly expanding cluster of barefoot al fresco eateries which double up as nightlife hotspots once the sun goes down. The Crow’s Nest Restaurant and Bar offers live entertainment twice a week (T. 562-2637).
For those who prefer sleek chic in a sophisticated atmosphere, Sugar Club (T. 562-7700), the bar/ club area of the luxurious Sugar Ridge resort offers everything from themed parties, including the annual 80s-inspired Grown & Sexy events featuring old-school British DJs, to energetic poolside festivities, soul sessions and live jazz in uber-plush surrounds, www.sugarclubantigua.com. The Capital, St. John’s, offers a diverse array of activities to suit all tastes. Pizzas in Paradise (T. 480-6970) in Redcliffe Quay is a great spot to enjoy sporadic appearances by local bands. Next door, C&C Wine Bar (T. 460-7025) is a delightful, open-air venue specialising in excellent South African wines. Highlights of the week include the bustling Thursday lasagna nights and karaoke on Saturday nights. Cuties also in the Quay has a live jazz band on Thursdays (T. 561- 0221)

The newly renovated Salt Plage is always a delight to visit ideally located on the beach an excellent location to catch one of our great sunsets (T. 462- 1538). Over at Fort James Beach, Beachlimerz (T. 562-8574) and Russell’s Seafood Restaurant (T.726-5242) provide a rich cultural experience with occasional live music and impromptu get-togethers. The Larder Restaurant on Friars Hill Road a great gourmet deli cafe and sushi bar, is popular gathering spot for tourists and locals alike and offers great happy hour and local entertainment on Fridays. Meanwhile, for the movie enthusiast, Antigua has two cinemas - Deluxe in St John’s and the Megaplex Caribbean Cinema (T. 562-4000) in Friars Hill Road. Screening the latest international blockbusters every night of the week, serious lm buffs won’t leave disappointed.
