DRONESHIELD AND EPE SIGN PARTNERSHIP
DRONESHIELD, a global leader in drone detection and mitiga- tion and EPE, an ADM Top 20 SME supplier to the ADF, have announced a partnership.
The emergence of small, lightweight, low cost drones offer many hobbyist and commercial applications but also enable criminals, activists and others a new way to remotely deploy threats. Drones present one of the most challenging and dynamic emerging threats to defence forces on operations,
to law enforcement, and to major events and critical infrastruc- ture domestically. They can deliver contraband into prisons, carry out surveillance of military bases and assets, create major disturbances at high profile events, and deliver IEDs
in combat zones.
DroneShield develops drone security solutions that protect people, organisations and critical infrastructure from unwanted intrusion by drones.
“EPE and DroneShield are both Australian owned companies with clear synergies,” Oleg Vornik, DroneShield’s CEO said. “EPE hasasolidrecordofdeliveringsolutionstoprotectmilitary, law enforcement and first responders in Australia and NZ for 30 years.”
“DroneShield has developed a complete suite of technolo- gies that enable organisations to detect, identify, monitor, or mitigate drones flying in controlled airspace (within legislative
requirements),” Director of EPE, Warwick Penrose said. “EPE has counter drone technology already operating at a number of Australian sites, and the DroneShield offering gives an increased flexibility
to provide discrete levels of protection dictated by our customers’ needs and budgets.”
DroneShield is the
only counter-drone
company that has
been accepted for membership of the Airports Council International (ACI) Europe. ACI Europe represents more than 500 airports in 45 European countries, including most major Europeanairports. ■

BARRETT WINS CANADIAN RADIO CONTRACT
BARRETT Communications have recently been awarded a multiyear contract to supply the Canadian National Defence Department (DND) with Very High Frequency (VHF) radio communications equipment.
This new contract follows on from the earlier contract awarded to Barrett in 2016.
The Barrett PRC-2080+ VHF radio systems are designed for multi-role military applications providing rugged reliable field proven communications. The PRC-2080+ system is offered in
hand portable, manpack, vehicle, base and rebroadcast system configurations, giving flexibility for its deployment in the field.
“We have many exciting developments and contracts coming from the Americas right now,” Andrew Burt, Barrett Communications CEO said. “We are pleased to have secured this contract demonstrating the confidence the Canadian DND has in Barrett communications equipment.”
Barrett has previously won a contract with the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) with HF radio com-
munications for their national parks and conservation
areas. The multiphase project was funded by USAID and included the Barrett 2050 HF base stations and Barrett 2090 HF portable manpacks.
The company has also delivered the full range of Barrett PRC-2080+ VHF systems to a Middle Eastern military. ■
