Crowley says, “The new PX30000 is targeting those digital label printers that are already in the market and want to really ramp up their capabilities with higher throughput and an extended colour gamut.
“It is an appealing proposition
for label printers, they can take out an old flexo press, and get the same look and feel on their labels from the PX30000, but with all the benefits of digital.”
The new PX3300 and PX2200 inkjet label presses have also been beefed up, including new cool rollers, and improved web drive and an ability to print clear. Weymans says, “Xeikon technology can be described as evolutionary rather than revolutionary. We are in constant communication with printers
using Xeikon presses for platform feedback. For instance the original PX2000 and PX3000 presses were air cooled systems, after talking with printers we switched to water cooled, which they all prefer. It is a great
example of the partnership that we all enjoy.”
All Xeikon presses are either manufactured or developed in
its Belgium centre, with all its design and IP centred in the two competence centres, one focused on toner, the other on inkjet. It is also where the presses are evaluated. These days for Xeikon printing means much more than just the press. It invests strongly in its inkjet inks, and of course being owned by the world’s biggest ink manufacturer Flint is more than helpful in that regard.
The company continues to grow in Australia and New Zealand. Crowley says, “With the addition of two Panther inkjet machines, one in New South Wales and the other installed earlier this year at ASAP Labels and Barcodes in Victoria, along with additional installations of our toner presses since direct sales were taken over in 2017, we are now in position where we need to expand our service capacity and we are currently

recruiting for an added service technician in Australia. Once we get the right candidate this person will spend an extended period of time
in our Belgium HQ getting trained up on both our toner and inkjet technologies.”
Financing options
Xeikon has been developing digital presses for three decades, however the pace of demand has increased significantly recently. Crowley says, “What we have seen over the last two years is that converters are looking at every option to reduce cost and bring about efficiencies with their business, and one of these is through the adoption of digital print technology. This is a big change for many people, and one we look
to make as seamless as possible for our customers, and to help with this we are now able to offer financing options to help make the transition into digital print as simple as possible.”
Xeikon has always been focused on its workflow, and has had its
own front end the DFE-800 for many years, with a whole team of developers constantly working on it, integration being one of the watch words. The DFE-800 is well capable of connecting with the ERP or MIS of its users.
All is now being connected into the cloud, with Xeikon systems translating the data according
to the recipient, for instance the press operator will have different requirements than the owner.
Weymans says, “In the last year, Xeikon has launched several new innovations and products. Now, printers and converters are able to see our vision materialising, and what that can mean for them. The careful build and structure of our portfolio is about to bear fruit, and we are now ready to present more innovations that will open up a way toward a digital future, and ‘lights out’ production and manufacturing.”
Xeikon’s innovations include new product introductions in all different aspects of the print manufacturing workflow, including presses, services and workflow.
Crowley says, “This is about a coming together of all aspects of production to create an end-to-end digital manufacturing solution. Xeikon takes a holistic approach to print, and is showing how by joining the dots real efficiencies can be achieved.”
