   Calling all flatbed UV printers
Australian made rigid board is now available from the country’s largest supplier of printable materials and consumables, Ball & Doggett.
Keeping abreast of current market trends is critical to remain relevant in any business regardless of whether a print business
is established or just starting out. And there is no bigger trend than concern for the environment, with printers, brands, retailers and all of us recognising
that we all have a part to play. That environmental concern is driving a demand for fibre-based substrates to succeed synthetic materials.
Ball & Doggett general manager - Display & Visual, Rob Brussolo says, “We are seeing a fundamental shift from plastic to fibre-based solutions, and a growing trend by larger retailers to switch to more sustainable options. The momentum is continuing for businesses to reduce their carbon footprint, and use environmentally sustainable and recyclable media, that has previously been produced on plastic substrates such as foam boards.”
And it is not just environmental concerns that are impacting on the market at the moment, Brussolo says, “The market is also currently experiencing major supply chain issues, and rising resin costs for plastic material, which is paving
the way for more cost effective sustainable fibre solutions that consumers and brand custodians show a demand for and desire.”
One of Ball & Doggett’s solutions to address the sustainable media demand is called Envirocore
Board. A fully recyclable rigid substrate, it is manufactured from reusable, renewable and 100 per cent recyclable paper. Equally important to the environmental aspect of this board is supporting local manufacturing. This board is manufactured in Australia, keeping locals in jobs.
Brussolo says Envirocore Board is stable and robust, due the hexagonal built-in core and thick outer print- facing surfaces. It is available in both 10mm and 20mm thicknesses, with either a white or kraft print surface.
This substrate can be printed on both sides on any UV inkjet device, and on the HP R2000 Latex flatbed printer. According to Brussolo it is positioned economically, and is a viable alternative to Foam Board, Foam PVC, and expensive inverted corrugate boards. He says, “Plastic waste is a growing concern and by using this board you are contributing
Above
to reducing your carbon footprint.” Ball & Doggett says Envirocore
Board has lay flat printability, is a versatile product, and can be applied across a number of applications. It says Envirocore Board has endless application possibilities, including hanging signage, exhibition stands, furniture builds, shop fittings, and mounting applications.
      Sustainable: Envirocore board
“We are seeing a fundamental shift from plastic to fibre-based solutions, and a growing trend by larger retailers to switch to more sustainable options.” – Rob Brussolo, Ball & Doggett
Envirocore Board is also closing the loop from manufacture to end of life. The substrate can be placed in any paper/cardboard recycling bin, making it easier for users to dispose of responsibly.
“As a key distributor to the signage market, Ball & Doggett’s core service value is making it easy for our customers. Together with our local manufacturing supply chain we can offer fast ex-stock turn-around time” Brussolo says. 21
