COURSES
The Ballet Initiative, Strictly Dance’s elite training course, is a unique pre- professional program offering young students the opportunity to train full-time without forgoing classroom schooling.
The ArtistProTM International Program has been created to enable graduates to emerge as complete dancers who are ready to succeed in international ballet and contemporary companies.
At Sydney College of Dance students learn to become highly skilled and versatile dancers in both Classical Ballet and Contemporary Dance. We prepare students to be versatile for the diverse repertoire of modern-day companies.
“Be prepared for the professional dance world that demands versatility and adaptability from each dancer.”
Dancers will achieve a strong adaptable technique; develop their
own individual artistry and will be guided to achieve the psychological
and emotional readiness needed to enter the professional dance world. Students will be individually prepared for mid-year assessments, ballet exams; professional school and company auditions; scholarships; national competitions and international competitions such as: Prix de Lausanne (Switzerland), Alana Haines
(New Zealand), YAGP (USA), Sydney Eisteddfod (Australia), Genée International Ballet Competition (RAD).
The focus of our program is always on the individual. Class numbers are kept small to meet the needs of each student and recognise and nurture individual talent and potential. Regular opportunities to discuss and set long and short-term goals will be an integral facet of the program.
“Students who would like to become professional dancers need to invest in
the development of their own artistic voice. They are not machines. Working the body is not enough. To reach an audience is to perform with emotional integrity. This takes time, nurturing and trust.” Gregor Thieler – Artistic Director
Sydney Ballet Theatre - Youth Company - We are offering our students
a professional company platform to work with artistic directors and choreographers to grow into the role of a professional dancer. Individually choreographed dances will be designed to maximise
each student’s strengths and inspire the growth of artistic expression. Our Winter Showcase and full-length end of year
