  LAUNCH YOUR ADAS SOLUTION
THE BEST WAY CARRY OUT AN ADAS
calibration is by the using the LAUNCH ADAS Mobile – it’s one of the most com- pact units available on the market with a high level of accuracy and ease of use, says Mark Luciano of Launch.
An ADAS calibration can be per- formed in as little as 20 minutes by a trained professional by means of a sin- gle technician. Some other brands need multiple technicians to perform calibration.
WHEN IS AN ADAS
CALIBRATION NEEDED?
• If you repair or replace sensor control module, for example ACC radar or front camera.
• Sensor reading is out of range.
• Sensor has been moved.
• Sensor bracket is repaired or replaced,
for example bumper or windscreen.
• Chassis has been adjusted.
THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO
CALIBRATE AN ADAS SYSTEM
1DYNAMIC CALIBRATION
No target board needed, scan tool required to bring the vehicle into cali- bration mode.
Vehicle requires to be driven to
meet specific driving conditions which sometimes are hard to meet in normal road circumstances.
2STATIC CALIBRATION
Target board and scan tool required Vehicle driving not required
SOME ADAS SYSTEMS
• Camera Radar
• LKA - Lane keeping assist system
• LDW - Lane Departure Warning System • AVM - Around View Monitor System • NV - Night Vision System
• VCW - Vehicle Collision warning System • ACC - Adaptive Cruise Control
• BSD - Blind Spot Detection
CHECK LIST
• Check there is no physical damage in
the sensors and that sensor module is
properly programmed.
• Check there is no physical damage
or deformity in the sensor mounting bracket, and the sensor is properly adjusted.
• Tyre pressure must be within specifi- cation.
• Vehicle is in park, the door is closed, fuel tank is full. Ensure no non-related DTCs exist.
• Set up the target distance and height as instructed.
• Do not touch vehicle during calibration.
PREPARATION
The lighting system around the calibration workstation should be a non-frequency.
Flash source, including but not limited to an LED light source, industrial lighting complying with international standards, dual light source in opposite phase.
ADAS CALIBRATION OPERATION
For some vehicle models, calibration pattern and calibration tools are not mandatory.
But for some camera-based ADAS, you must use a calibration tool and calibration pattern. In this case, for the positioning of the calibration tool and vehicle, it is neces- sary for the user to manually finish it.
The following steps are needed when working with X-431 ADAS Mobile
• Determine the centre line of the vehicle. • Determine the placement location of
the X-431 ADAS Mobile.
• Place the X-431 ADAS Mobile.
• Adjust X-431 ADAS Mobile in parallel
with the vehicle.
• Select and install the target/pattern
board on the X-431 ADAS Mobile.
• Adjust the height of the target/pat-
tern board.
• Required accessories:
• Five-line laser device LAM09-01
• Cross laser module LAM09-02
• Laser reflector LAM09-03
• Auxiliary mirror LAM09-04
• L-shaped positioning bracket LAM09-05 • Plumb line LAM09-06
