Wide Format Printing
Tying in with the show’s 2020 location, the Printeriors design will combine video and photographic imagery of the Madrid Royal Botanical Garden, providing, says Fespa, an immersive experience for visitors. Once again, Fespa is collaborating with illustrator Jasper Goodall
on the designs for the Printeriors applications, which will use a mix of sustainable fabrics and materials.
Print Make Wear
Fespa’s fast fashion factory feature is back for 2020, this time with a focus on sportswear manufacturing. Linking to the co-located Sportswear Pro event, Print Make Wear
will recreate the live end-to-end production process for sports and athleisure garments, starting with planning, design and prepress, progressing to printing, drying, cutting, sewing, welding, and embellishment, and finishing with packing and retail display.
This year’s edition includes two workflows. The first one features two ordering kiosks, where the visitor will be able to customise a men’s running shirt or a women’s racer back vest.
The second workflow will run from design software to nesting and
Roll-to-roll: latest printers will be at Madrid, including this bulk ink Epson SureColor
production layout, through roll-fed dye sublimation printing onto polyester, before moving into calendaring, laser cutting, and sewing. This workflow will produce samples to be displayed on a rail or worn by models on the Print Make Wear cat walk.
World Wrap Masters
Fespa’s popular, high-energy World Wrap Masters vehicle wrapping competition will return to Global Print Expo 2020, with reinvigorated displays and a new scoring system. The competition will be hosted
by wrap expert and veteran judge Kiss Lajos, alongside well known identities and wrap experts Justin Pate and Carlos Ruiz, while Ole Solskin Ravn will join as guest MC.
Fespa Awards 2020
This year sees the introduction of two new categories – Wrapping
and Printeriors – bringing the total number to 18. Neil Felton concludes: “Our insights from previous
events reinforce the notion that print industry professionals are continually looking at new openings and ways to grow their businesses. We’re confident that the wealth of content that is being generated for our 2020 feature programme will give visitors plenty to explore to increase their knowledge and seize new opportunities.”

Sportswear Pro show to run alongside Fespa
The first-ever Sportswear Pro event IFEMA will take place alongside Fespa, highlighting the growth opportunity that both producing and printing onto sportswear, or athleisure as it is also called, represents.
Leading companies will showcase their latest innovations in manufacturing technologies for sports and athleisure garments, such as heat transfer systems, fabric cutting equipment, and automatic spreaders and loading systems.
Sportswear Pro 2020 exhibition manager Michael Ryan comments: “The Pro in Sportswear Pro stands
for production. Our mission is to help sportswear manufacturers and apparel brands respond to the fastest moving trends in the market by giving them actionable insights into the technical innovations that are re-shaping every stage in the manufacturing process.
“Our exhibitors will be showing some inspiring examples of technologies that
can enable lean, just-in-time production and personalisation, with an emphasis on reducing time to market, minimising waste,
and creating stand-out sports and athleisure garments that consumers can’t wait to buy.”
Sportswear Pro 2020 will include a dedicated theatre area with a Triathcon programme featuring streams of content specifically developed to address the
key trends shaping the sportswear
and athleisure sectors, including customisation, on-demand production, sustainability, and smart wearables. All sessions will be free to attend.
Visitors to Sportswear Pro 2020 will also have the chance to experience a live sportswear manufacturing showcase in Print Make Wear, a micro factory feature which will connect Sportswear Pro and the co-located Fespa Global Print Expo.
Print Make Wear will represent the full production process for sports and athleisure garments, featuring two distinct workflows. The first reflects a customised garment ordering scenario, enabling visitors to order sportswear items from an on-site kiosk. The second workflow begins with design software, progressing to nesting and production layout. Polyester garments will subsequently be printed using a
roll-fed dye sublimation process before calendering, laser cutting and sewing. Samples produced here will be displayed and modelled on the Print Make Wear catwalk. Guided tours of both workflows will be available to pre-book online.
As the leading annual event for the speciality print community, Fespa
Global Print Expo will feature numerous exhibitors dedicated to textile and garment printing and decoration. Printed sportswear on display within Fespa Global Print Expo will also be highlighted in a Visitor Trail, extending the experience for visitors to Sportswear Pro.
