  ✷ SPOTLIGHT
MIXIN FOR AN ANNIVERSARY
ONE of the world’s largest industrial mixing companies, SPX FLOW, is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its premier mixing brand, Lightnin.
Over its history, the Lightnin brand has seen many accomplishments, including introducing cutting-edge technologies like the invention of the flat-bladed radial turbine and the continuous mixing column.
SPX FLOW president of Mixing Solutions, Wendy
Malone, says, “Lightnin and all our mixing brands have built a reputation based on trust, partnership and reliability," Malone said. "We celebrate this milestone while looking forward to plans to offer the same outstanding customer service for years to come.”
The company started in 1923 and introduced the Lightnin brand, named for the quick turnaround in delivering the products to customers.
More recently, Lightnin is known for its mixers and agitators serving the challenging waste and water treatment sector as well as the processing of solvents.
SIDLING UP FOR A SIDE BLEND
THE Mixquip Series 100 Side Entry Mixers by Teralba have been designed specifically with the high efficiency Mixquip Hydrofoil impellers. Mixquip side entry mixers provide the most
efficient means of converting energy into fluid motion in large storage tanks. Mixquip side entry agitators are ideally suited for blending products of low to
medium viscosity and are designed to move food products and beverages away from the tank to create a uniform turnover of tank contents. This provides high efficiency axial flow impellers with maximum pumping and thrust for maximum
agitation, resulting in reduced production times.
Applications include blending, solids in suspension, heat transfer, and mass transfer. Designed and
manufactured in Australia and used
in food, beverage, wine, and dairy industries across the country, Mixquip provides robust side entry mixer solutions.
The precision cast stainless steel housing is available in both angular and straight designs.
SUPPORTING FASTER MOTION
ENGEL has developed a smart assistance system which automatically optimises the acceleration phases to support faster movements in injection moulding machines.
In high-performance applications, this can significantly shorten cycle times and provide a competitive advantages. An Engel e-speed injection moulding machine produces
125ml round containers from rPET with a 4-cavity mould using thin-wall injection moulding and in-mould labelling used for packaging foods.
In high speed applications, the time the injection moulding machine takes to open and close the mould is a material part of the cycle time. Like a robot arm, the moving mould mounting plate on the injection moulding machine does not simply open and close; instead it follows individual motion points. For each individual phase, iQ motion control software computes the optimum acceleration for the matching machine setting.
    NEXT GEN GOES FASTBACK
Heat and Control says its release of the FastBack 4.0 is the latest revolution of horizontal motion conveying technology. The 4.0 is the result of more than 10 years development and multiple international patents, with a history going back
25 years and three generations before it. Recognised as the number one brand in its class,
Heat and Control says its reputation is unmatched for near zero breakage and product damage, no loss of coatings or seasonings, greatly reduced sanitation and associated down time, quiet, smooth, and trouble-free operation.
Heat and Control, Inc. president Tony Caridis says, “Investing in continued innovation is at the heart of what we do at Heat and Control. Ensuring high performance that provides results are a priority when we undertake design development such as FastBack 4.0.”
The conveyor is smaller and thinner to fit in a wide variety of locations, reverses instantly giving more control over product handling, and has an ultra-quiet 70db range. There are no pinch points or moving arms to cover and to protect which further improves the working environment. Heat and Control says FastBack 4.0 provides higher travel rates than any other horizontal motion conveyor.
