    Take control with frequency inverters
BITZER HAS ADDED models with IP55 and IP66 enclosure classes to its range of VARIPACK frequency inverters.
VARIPACK frequency inverters are designed for safe and easy capacity control and have been specially adapted for refrigeration and for the op- eration of BITZER refrigeration compressors. They open up a wide range of applications in su- permarkets, hotels and restaurants as well as food manufacturing and processing.
VARIPACK is suitable for refrigeration and air conditioning systems as well as heat pumps and can be combined with single compressors and compound systems alike.
After intuitive commissioning, the frequency inverters take over the control functions of the re- frigeration system. They can be mounted in a switch cabinet (IP20) or outside of the switch cab- inet thanks to the higher IP55/66 enclosure class.
VARIPACK frequency inverters can be oper- ated in two modes: The compressor’s capacity can either be controlled depending on an exter- nally set signal or on the evaporation tempera- ture with an optionally available pressure con- trol add-on module.
In addition to direct control of the evaporation temperature, the speed of the condenser fan can be set via a 0–10 V output signal and a second compressor can be switched on. With regard to pressure control, the frequency inverters have a database of all commonly used refrigerants for ease of configuration and monitoring.
BITZER software can be used to select a fre- quency inverter for specific applications and BEST software (BITZER Electronics Service Tool) can be used for easy commissioning and monitoring. Thanks to the stored databases,
The new models IP55 and IP66 have been added to the VARIPACK range.
 Series AT-A3000.
DWYER INSTRUMENTS HAS announced the availability of its flameproof approved Series AT- A3000 photohelic pressure switch/gauge.
It functions as a versatile, highly repeatable pressure switch combined with a precise pres- sure gauge employing the time-proven Magne- helic gauge design.
The Photohelic switch/gauge measures and controls positive, negative or differential pres- sures of air and compatible gases. Two photo- transistor actuated, DPDT relays are included for low/high limit control.
Easy-to-adjust set point indicators are controlled
by knobs located on the gauge face (accessible open- ing case after de-energising instrument). Set points can be interlocked to provide variable dead band which is ideal for control of fans, dampers, etc.
Gauge reading is continuous and unaffected by switch operation, even during loss of electrical power. Flameproof enclosures are available in alu- minum with a glass window which allows for viewing of set point needles and process pressure.

BEST software is also the interface for com- munication to configure, monitor and read out error messages. VARIPACK frequency inverters with the IP55/66 protection class are also fitted with a display as standard which makes it possi- ble to view the current operating conditions and adjust common parameters.
VARIPACK frequency inverters ensure that, when operating in field-weakening mode, the maximum frequency is automatically limited depending on the load.
Optimised adjustment to suit the system’s cur-
rent cooling demand reduces energy consump- tion, increases efficiency and lowers running costs. VARIPACK is safe and reliable as it has been tailored to and optimised with BITZER refriger- ation compressors – choosing from preconfig- ured set-ups prevents incorrect parametrisation. A high starting current reserve and special start-up procedure also make sure that the com-
pressor starts up safely.
Thanks to the flexibility of the VARIPACK se-
ries in combination with selection by using BITZER software, users can select the optimal combination of compressor, motor and frequen- cy inverter for every application.
