Spring is LIVE
SPRING has sprung. We are beavering away here, not just bringing you this latest issue but putting together the first Food & Drink Business LIVE event since 2019. I can almost feel that microphone in my hand, but even more importantly, in the hands of what is already a stellar speaker line-up.
This year our theme is Business Not As Usual: How to Adapt to Change, Fast. As Food 4.0 unfolds, we are experiencing one of the largest and fastest periods of change for our food and beverage processing system on a global scale. Changing consumer expectations coupled with technological and scientific advancements in food production have been
amplified by a global pandemic, geo-political instability, supply chain disruption, and extreme climate events. Industry leaders and disruptors will share their experiences and insights on how they
have – and are – adapting to new ways of work.
Mark it in your diaries: Thursday, 10 November, at 8am, at the State Library Victoria in Melbourne.
We can’t wait to see you all.
Meanwhile, welcome to the September issue. Our cover story
– the carbon neutral certification journey of Hydroflux – is a
must read (page 12). The message from its experience is while the climb might be steep, the view from the top is more than worth it. In this case, the view is seeing the benefits beyond the environment to how it improves all aspects of your business. It provides a compelling case for starting your own carbon neutral process.
Then, New Zealand avocado producer Andrew Vivian was determined to
find a solution for the fruit not pretty enough to sell. The result, after years of R&D, is a functional freeze-dried avocado powder. Its uses, nutritional qualities, and environmental benefits are huge. I can’t help but feel we’re going to see and hear a lot more from his company, Ovavo (page 22).
We also have excellent case studies in our Processing Tech feature (page 30) and if you are looking to develop your ecommerce business, head to Betsy McGinn’s article about Amazon (page 38). She is as passionate about helping companies reach their potential online as I am about a microphone and captive audience.
Enjoy this issue, pop LIVE in your diary, and keep an eye on the website for more event updates.
Onward.
