APPLIED Virtual Simulation, a Newcastle based SME, is the latest Australian com- pany to join the C4 EDGE consortium.
Applied Virtual Simulation is a provider of simulation-based training technology to the Australian Army. AVS has delivered a range of training systems such as the Pro- tected Mobility Tactical Trainer, Sniper / Observer Trainer and Route Clearance training systems, which deliver training to hundreds of soldiers annually.

tegration and interoperability to the C4 EDGE consortium, and will be focus- ing on how C4 EDGE can be in- tegrated with the
Army’s current and future training plat- forms and systems.
C4 EDGE (Evolutionary Digital Ground Environment) is a defence industry co- operative of C4 subject matter experts aiming to demonstrate a sovereign land battlegroup and below communications environment for the Army.
The program intends to leverage inter- nationally agreed open standards to grow and demonstrate Australian C4 (command control communications and computers) industry capacity and ability to deliver a
battlegroup and below C4 capability dem- onstration.
“We’ve had a great experience working with EOS and other consortium partners on C4 EDGE. Through a focused and col- laborative approach, we’ve been able to make rapid progress integrating our tech- nology,” Martin Carr, director of Applied Virtual Simulation, said. “We are enthusi- astic about the potential training outcomes which can be achieved through a deep inte- gration between simulation environments and C4 EDGE, and believe that this under- taking will deliver new opportunities, par- ticularly in the collective training domain.”
“The open architecture approach ad- opted by C4 EDGE makes integration with AVS simple to implement and show- cases collaboration with future training systems,” Matthew Jones, GM Land C4I of EOS Defence Systems and C4 EDGE program lead, said.
EOS and AVS have previously collabo- rated to develop the Remote Weapon Sta- tion Desktop Trainer (RDT). Also in the pipeline for future collaboration is the joint development of training aides and simulation products for other EOS prod- ucts, including the Titanis C-UAS system.
sanitisation and destruction services, in- cluding the Australian Government PSPF endorsements for Top Secret.”
“It is our experience corporate and gov- ernment organisations seem to be more focused on the ‘front’ end of cybersecurity but have forgotten about the obvious risks associated to IT decommissioning and data destruction,” Kurt Gruber, Executive Director at WV Technologies, said. “It was like keeping your front door locked but leaving your back door open.”
WV TECHNOLOGIES ACHIEVES NAID AAA CERTIFICATION
WV Technologies have announced that they are the first and only company in Aus- tralia to obtain the highest security clear- ance for all data destruction and sanitisa- tion services, the NAID AAA certification.
In addition to obtaining the NAID AAA certification for sanitisation, the company received an endorsement from the Austra- lian Government Protective Security Policy Framework (PSPF) to undertake data de- struction of Top Secret classified material.
“Recognising the accreditation that has been secured here is an enormous accom- plishment for WV Technologies,” Senator Simon Birmingham said. “To be able to manage lifecycle data in a way that pro- vides the highest level of security, protect information and keep all of our systems as safe and secure as possible.
“In this case, we’re thinking about the product lifecycle in relation to data and technology and making sure that we are securing such an important part of peo- ple’s personal privacy through to manage- ment of secret information is essential to the nation’s security and the ongoing de- velopment of businesses and national infrastructure.”
“WV Technologies has invested heavily in data security,” Jamie Miller, Executive Director at WV Technologies, said. “We are the first company to achieve NAID AAA certi- fication for all mobile and plant based
