   Daikin builds second Sydney factory
LEFT & BELOW: The expansion will increase R&D capacity at the plant.
“Having these local capabilities ensures we use local knowledge and insights to design and manufacture products specifically for Australian homes and businesses.”
The project gained support from the NSW government’s Jobs Plus Program as it will create 45 new highly skilled jobs and 223 indirect jobs to the state.
The $250 million Jobs Plus Program was cre- ated to support up to 25,000 jobs through to 30 June 2024.
NSW Minister for Enterprise, Investment and Trade, Alister Henskens, said Jobs Plus is unlocking the enormous potential of home- grown businesses, as well as attracting global heavyweights to invest.
“This will help drive the NSW economy for- ward in line with our long-term economic plan,” Henskens said.
“These jobs will boost the state’s thriving economy, help to develop even more world- leading products, and cement NSW as Australia’s innovation capital.”
DAIKIN AUSTRALIA WILL BUILD A SECOND FACTORY AT ITS MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN CHIPPING NORTON,
WEST OF SYDNEY.
THE AIR CONDITIONING manufacturer has
received support from the New South Wales government’s $250 million Jobs Plus Program.
The expansion, which is due for completion in June 2024, is part of Daikin’s strategy to focus on Australian manufacturing supported by local research and development.
The project involves the construction of a new
7500m2 factory to complement existing produc- tion facilities at Daikin’s Australian headquarters on Governor Macquarie Drive, Chipping Norton.
The new factory will include expanded pro- duction areas for packaged air-conditioning (PA) units, an expanded assembly line for air handling units (AHU), additional raw materials warehousing, and staff training facilities.
In addition, a new multi-level carpark will be built for staff and visitors.
Daikin Australia’s general manager of manu- facturing, Nicholas MacDonald, said the second factory will provide new opportunities for staff and customers, and increase the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
“It will also extend our capacity for research and development,” he said.
  Futuregas roadshow returns in 2023
TICKETS ARE NOW on sale for 17 industry-supported refrigerant education events aimed at those working in the stationary HVACR sector.
A lot of change has emerged in
the world of refrigerants since the highly suc- cessful future:gas refrigerant seminar road- shows of 2016 and 2017. So it’s time for another roadshow in 2023.
Refrigerants are still changing, with some of the changes discussed in previous future:gas seminars happening faster than expected and some slower.
There are also some unexpected develop- ments and curveballs in the mix.
Everyone in the industry needs to be aware of what is happening in the market, what the laws are and how they could be changing.
The 2023 future:gas roadshows will again assemble expert speakers to discuss and explain the latest on the recovery and handling of new
refrigerants, the laws that will influence each part of the industry, and what this will mean for the day-to-day life of those in the busi- ness of handling refrigerants.
At least 2000 delegates from the stationary HVACR sector are expected to attend the 17 events across Australia and New Zealand,
as well as Vanuatu and Papua New Guinea. Tickets to future:gas seminars in Australia and New Zealand are just $20, making it afford-
able for technicians to pay for themselves and for business own- ers to send a number of their employees.
To help as many people as pos- sible to attend, the seminars will take place on weekday evenings during the winter, beginning at
RIGHT: More than 2000 delegates are expected to attend.
5pm with complimentary welcome drinks, food and trade displays.
The roadshow will begin in Vanuatu and kick off in Melbourne, Australia on 16 May, 2023.
During the month of May, seminars will be held in Albury NSW, Canberra ACT, Hobart TAS and Adelaide SA.
The Sydney seminar will be held on 6 June and Newcastle on 7 June, 2023.
