      Avon launches Alumma
for tool-free foiling
Innovation has come to Australia with the new Alumma foiling and Alumma X embossing system from Avon Graphics. Alumma enables foiling tool-free, bringing new short-run opportunities for printers, while Alumma X is dent-free embossing. Wayne Robinson reports.

Avon Graphics has developed Alumma – a new technique for foiling without tooling, and for
embossing without denting.
Print business owners are about
to receive a boost as they seek to offer new graphic solutions to the market with the launch of Alumma from Avon Graphics. This brand new embellishing process will lay down foil without the need to
create dies first, and Alumma X will also lay down raised foil, but without embossing, or denting out, the substrate.

It is an Australian first – it’s the first time Alumma has been used, and the system is the first of its type in the country. It has taken Avon Graphics four years of development including building several prototype machines, with the first one going into its Melbourne plant, another into its Sydney operation, and Brisbane likely to get one in the
near future.
