eco-friendly options, especially when it comes to PPE,” SHOWA president and chief operating officer Richard Heppell says.
“When you look at countries like Germany and France, regulations are becoming stricter as well. Following the success of our chemical resistant 707 glove series, our R&D team designed a new 707 glove to help customers meet these regulations while still providing the best hand protection in the market.”
SHOWA 707HVO blends single use and chemical resistant technology to deliver optimum fit, feel and comfort while protecting against chemicals.
The 0.23mm thick unsupported, unlined biodegradable nitrile complies with EN ISO 374-1 (JKOPT) and 374-5, and is impermeable to protect against oils, hydrocarbons, grease, chemicals and abrasions.
The 305mm long glove is chlorinated for easy donning and doffing, with a rolled cuff to prevent dirt from entering the glove.
The bisque finish on palm and fingers offers long-lasting grip and tactility. Its fluorescent orange colour makes it highly visible.
BOOTS AND ALL
The HACCPER food-grade sanitising mat from Amco is the company’s latest advancement in research and development.
A sanitising fluid is poured into the reservoir, enabling the HACCPER to sanitise footwear.
The new design seeks to overcome issues relating to previous styles of boot-dip and sanitising mats, such as high outside dam edges that pose a huge tripping hazard; limited baffling causing constant spillage and liquid pooling; no internal bevels meaning trolleys could not be wheeled through; no provision for total foot immersion in the cleaning chemical; and natural rubber composition that leaves black marks and stains on the floor.
The HACCPER overcomes these issues with a flexible PVC loop inside the dam edge that allows the users footwear to sink to the bottom of the mat
and totally
immerse the bottom of the shoe.
Also, the inner loop style PVC acts as a baffle through the entire mat and eliminates swish and splash. This baffle system also saves thousands of dollars in wasted cleaning chemical.
The internal walls of the HACCPER allow for trolleys
to roll through without jolting. A 200mm diameter trolley castor wheel will complete two full revolutions inside the HACCPER mat.
Because it is made from synthetic PVC, the HACCPER will not stain or dirty flooring.
The HACCPER has been designed to use in many areas including in food manufacturing facilities.
EAR THIS
Honeywell has introduced the Howard Leight Earplug Dispenser (HL400).
HL400 foam earplugs are designed to protect against noise-induced hearing loss,
one of the most common occupational injuries among personnel who work in food processing and warehousing and are and subject to the short
and long-term effects of hazardous noise on hearing.
HL400’s disposable foam earplugs provide the right fit for every user in every environment from different sizes, shapes, and materials to attenuation levels that accommodate
both personal preferences
and specific applications.
The dispenser is easily mounted and refilled for convenience, according to Honeywell.
HEAD IN THE CLOUD
Muddy Boots Software, which is designed to simplify the complexities of managing safe food, product quality and compliance, has received HACCP certification.
The solution is the
only cloud-based
food safety and
quality management
software to carry the
HACCP certification mark, according to its maker, assuring the integrity and fail-safe characteristics of the Greenlight Quality Control solution for use in food businesses that operate a HACCP-based food safety program.
“Muddy Boots’ Greenlight Quality Control impressed our evaluation team with its ability to handle complex food safety system requirements within a simple, user-friendly interface,” director of HACCP International Clive Withinshaw said.
“The system encourages and supports operators to perform their tasks properly, and provides all the information that quality and food safety managers need in a secure and easy-to-access format.”

of the Muddy Boots’ technology. With globalisation and the increasing difficulties facing food supply chains, the importance of managing risks with speed and accuracy will only continue to grow.
“Muddy Boots is food industry focused,” Muddy Boots Software Australia and New Zealand general manager Jason Considine says.
“Our solution helps food manufacturers streamline day-to-day tasks so they can focus on what they do best. For instance, tasks can be
HYGIENE & SAFETY
scheduled for
a given time or
frequency and operators can be prompted to carry out
these tasks.”
The Muddy Boots solution
is a single data-set presented
in real-time, delivering a clear picture of processes, critical control points and inefficiencies across operations, and the ability to facilitate seamless two-way communication flow between each member of the chain. The enhanced visibility enables prompt decisions to be made based on accurate and up-to-the-minute information, and assists in identifying and responding to problems more quickly. ✷
