Nord Drivesystems says its Safomi adapter, for Nord Maxxdrive industrial gear units, is a technical innovation in its field of application: a flange with an integrated oil expansion tank. This, the company says, can increase operational reliability, requiring fewer wearing parts.
Maxxdrive industrial gear units have been part of the Nord product range for more than a decade and have proven themselves in countless applications throughout the world, Nord says. They offer high output torques from 15 to 250 kNm and ensure smooth operation even under demanding conditions.
Nord’s Maxxdrive industrial gear units ensure reliable operation in industries using mixing and agitation processes even under extreme conditions.

operation under ultimate external loads. The extensive Maxxdrive modular system provides many options for tailored solutions. For agitator applications, the industrial gear units can be equipped with a Safomi IEC adapter.
Safomi, which stands for “sealless adapter for mixers”, is an IEC adapter that combine the functions of a standard IEC adapter and an oil expansion tank in a single component.
Safomis are available for parallel gear units and in the sizes 7 to 11, i.e. for maximum output torques from 25 to 75 kNm. The compact combination of Maxxdrive industrial gear units, Safomi IEC adapters and drive motors is the best choice for mixer and agitator applications to reduce wearing parts and attached components, according to Nord.
FOODMACH APPOINTS NATIONAL SALES MANAGER Packaging automation integrator Foodmach has appointed Chris Yule as national sales manager.
Yule leads a team of
six sales and technical
support engineers around Australia focused on Foodmach’s core offerings. The team works alongside the technology products and international sales teams. The position was created after CEO Earle Roberts was promoted from chief customer officer twelve months ago.
“Chris’ experience across the entire spectrum of engineering roles within the business make him exceptionally well-qualified to lead the sales team,” Earle Roberts said.
Yule previously held the title of national sales engineer at Foodmach and has held numerous roles within the Foodmach engineering department.
Yule was part of the engineering and 3D modelling team that developed the early Robomatrix High Speed Palletisers, Foodmach’s award-winning design for user-friendly pallet automation.
“Australia’s producers will have enough challenges on their hands for the foreseeable future,” Yule said.
“If we can relieve them of their factory automation concerns by streamlining operations and increasing productivity, it’s just one less thing they have to worry about.”
TECHNICAL INNOVATION IN MIXING AND AGITATION PROCESSES
There is a new tray-positioning system on the market that calculates the required tray spacing set-up parameters for individual tray sealing tool sets. Tray-sealing specialist Proseal said it is the first of its kind, and it can eliminate the trial and error usually associated with the process.
The new ProPosition feature automatically identifies the best position for trays to ensure the perfect alignment every time, Proseal said.
The company said this technology provides food manufacturers and processors with a one-step tool-set-up and removes the time consuming and potentially wasteful process of running test trays through the tray sealer to ascertain the best position. Instead, operators are guided through the set-up via easy to
follow, animated instructions on the machine’s touch screen.
The system then permanently saves the relevant parameters for each tool, which greatly speeds up product changeovers and avoids operator errors during set-up.
ProPosition is fitted as standard to all new Proseal GT platform machines. Additionally, the software can be retrofitted to any pre-existing machines which have the suffix GTe and GTs.
Proseal systems development manager Paul Watkin said the new ProPosition system showcases the company’s engineering innovation.
“This pioneering technology helps to minimise downtime, reduce errors and minimise waste to deliver valuable cost savings that will deliver a fast return on investment,” Watkin said.
