Improved thermal resistant films
Innovia Films has launched a new BOPP film in its Propafilm range of transparent specialty packaging options.
ACCORDING to Innovia, its new CHS films offer improved ther- mal resistance and shrinkage properties compared to con- ventional PP films.
It has been designed to sub- stitute traditional outer web films in laminates, for applications such as pouches and lidding in vari-
ous food markets.
“With CHS, we have developed
a BOPP film with enhanced func- tionality, which allows the film to be used in new application areas,” explains Paul Watters, product development manager for Packaging, Innovia Films.
“We have been particularly suc- cessful with the film’s performance as the outer film of laminate structures used in retort pouch applications.
“In this application area there are a lot of mixed material lami- nates used, and because of the drive towards simplified structures, it is important to offer alternatives to the traditional films used.
“CHS is a part of this solution, and it will help our customers on the journey towards developing new structures based on mono-mate- rials, for better and more efficient recycling in the future.”
CHS, like many of the other Propafilm products, has been clas- sified as Made for Recycling by Interseroh, a sustainability ser- vice provider based in Cologne, Germany, which Watters says dem- onstrates the film’s simple recy- clability, where the infrastructure for PP recycling exists. ■
