Orora innovates in glass
IN an Australian first, Orora Beverage has launched its Orora ORO-GIN 700ml spirit bottle made from its new Orora Crystal glass, bringing a high clarity, super flint option to the local spirits market.
The Orora Crystal bottle range, specially created for the Australian spirit industry, is made by Orora at its glass man- ufacturing facility in Gawler, South Australia.
The newly launched Crystal glass bottle range presents a local solution for distillers, who have had to import their glass
bottles from overseas. For these companies faced with navigating global supply chains
and dealing with international shipping and
logistical chal- lenges, border policies and global market fluctuations, buy- ing local becomes is a compelling option.
Speaking on The PKN Podcast recently, Orora CEO Brian Lowe said the com- pany is really proud of this innovation which went into
production late in 2021.
He said this innovation stemmed from the company’s efforts to find other markets for glass to replace the volumes lost as a result of reduced wine
exports to China.
An early adopter of the ORO-
GIN bottle is the Copper & Grain Distilling Co., which said, “As an Australian Single Malt Whisky, we are extremely proud to be working with a fellow Australian partner and sup- porting local manufacturing.
“The development of the final bottle was a truly collaborative process and the local Orora team have been extremely supportive along the way. The quality of the new Orora Crystal glass is world standard and we are extremely pleased with the final bottle.” ■
