 BESIX WATPAC CELEBRATES SUCCESSFUL DELIVERY OF $96 MILLION STATE-OF-THE-ART MAINTENANCE FACILITY FOR NAVY GUIDED WEAPONS
   BESIX Watpac has successfully deliv- ered a complex purpose-built Integrat- ed Weapons Facility (IWF) at Defence Establishment Orchard Hills.
The new facility, officially opened on April 5 by the former Minister for Defence Peter Dutton MP, is one of several world-class sites that will be delivered under the $1 billion Sover- eign Guided Weapons and Explosive Ordnance (GWEO) Enterprise.

Construction scope included build- ing an administration area with a mix of offices, meeting rooms and secure communications room, two Weapon Assembly Rooms with specialist work- shops for the safe handling, inspection and maintenance of guided weapons, and four reinforced concrete test cells. BESIX Watpac with support from local contractors also completed the land- scaping, infrastructure and supporting services including integration of com- munications and safety systems with the existing Base infrastructure.
OMNI, an Australian defence SME, has expanded its capability offering with the acquisition of AMW Profes- sional Services.
AMW are an ‘above the line’ contract- ing firm providing professional services to the Australian government through- out the capability life cycle, from initial concept through to disposal.
Omni expects that integrating AMW into its existing service delivery will strengthenthecapabilityofferingtoex- isting and new clients. The acquisition is expected to see Omni’s presence ex- pand into the maritime sector, comple- menting existing services in aerospace, consulting, security, and vetting.
