rinters are doing a remarkable job in the most trying of circumstances. Having to have all staff ith at least one jab
in a short deadline for those printers in the LGAs of concern was a massive undertaking. It was so good to see the industry
helping one another, sharing tips on strategies employed.
All around the country print business, like the one I am standing
in front of in the photo above, have been working hard to ensure a Covid-safeenvironmentfortheirstaffa dcustomers, andtoensure the presses keep printing. It has been quite a journey.
Covid has been with us for the best part of two years, but it seems we are approaching the end, of lockdowns anyway. The vaccination take-up has been terrific, and will shortly result in what should be long-lasting freedoms.
The whole economy, the whole country, is bursting to get
back into action. Print will play a major part in that action. It will of course be a little different, but it was ever thus. Print remains a key communication channel, that much has been crystal clear during Covid.
This is ue of Print21 focuses on print technology. Covid may have kyboshed PacPrint, but the technologies that would have been on show are now available, and many of them are in the pages that follow. New technology offers better, faster ways of producing print, or new ways altogether, or the ability to produce new products to enter new markets.
We also look at two family-owned print businesses, and their approach to the current market, with Emerald Press and Avon Graphics giving us a valuable insight into their operations. Both are backing their own decisions and strategies, which are serving them well, and taking them forward.
And there is a special focus on the industry’s biggest supplier Currie Group, which is itself evolving again as it always has done, as it seeks to partner with printers to enjoy new opportunities.
It has been a pleasure to produce this issue of Print21, we always welcome your feedback, and your stories of printing in this extraordinary time of Covid.
