Currie Group gave a sneak preview of the statement it planned to make with its PacPrint 22 stand, the biggest at the show. The showcase would have a brand-new look, and some of the latest label and packaging print technology on display, including the latest model seven-colour HP Indigo 6K Digital Press.

Australian material scientist Graeme Lang, a pioneer and innovator in label technology employed by Labelmakers, was honoured during IPACK-IMA in Italy with the Global Lifetime Achievement Award presented by the World Packaging Organisation. In an Australian first, Adelaide-based yoghurt manufacturer MOO Premium Foods is using 100% ocean bound plas- tic, which is collected from beaches in Malaysia via recycling company HHI, and will be used in its tubs and lids manufactured by TechnoPlas.

   APPMA Awards of Excellence
 INDUSTRY RECOGNISED
At AUSPACK in May, some 450 packaging and processing industry professionals gathered to celebrate with winners at the APPMA Awards of Excellence Gala Dinner.
This year saw the efforts of Foodmach, Fibre King, GS1, Packsize, Trimatt Systems and Laco Automation rewarded, while emerging leaders from HMPS and Rhima were also recognised.
It was a momentous evening, after a well- attended day on the showfloor, and everyone was in high spirits.
“Winners in each of the eight categories were announced in front of a sold-out room, which was
the perfect way to celebrate the best in Australia’s manufacturing industry,” said Mark Dingley, chairman of APPMA.
The APPMA Awards of Excellence is the national awards program for Australia’s packaging and processing industry, recognising excellence, innovation, leadership and best practice.
