Forging partnerships to support industry
One of APPMA’s key business strategies, in addition to providing direct member services and events, is developing relationships with other associations, Government, and business service providers with the aim of improving member services while promoting the broader processing and packaging industry.
Aprime example of this relationship development strategy playing out was APPMA’s participation at the inaugural Modern Manufacturing Expo, which was held in Sydney in September. APPMA CEO Michael Moran and administration manager Denni Egan were in attendance on the APPMA stand and walked the halls of the expo, which was established as a platform for innovation in manufacturing across all sectors.
“The expo provided another opportunity for us to promote APPMA and our members, driving additional industry engagement and presence in NSW and supporting the broader manufacturing industry, of which processing and packaging, especially within the food and beverage sector, represents a significant component,” Moran said.
“It was also a great opportunity to promote APPEX 24, which attracted significant interest from exhibitors and visitors alike generating a great deal of excitement and
enthusiasm for the event.” Moran said APPMA aims to
participate again in the expo in 2023, with special deals being negotiated for APPMA members who may wish to participate.
Any member interested exhibiting in 2023 can contact Denni Egan or Michael Moran to discuss the opportunity.
Made in Victoria
In October, Michael Moran and APPMA director, Rosanne Jessop, MD of Pilz, attended the Victorian Government’s launch of ‘Made in Victoria 2030’.
Speaking to some 350 guests gathered for the launch, The Hon Ben Carroll, Minister for Industry Support & Recovery, Business Precincts, Public Transport, Roads & Road Safety outlined how the Made in Victoria 2030: Manufacturing Statement sets out the Victorian Government’s priorities for enhancing sovereign advanced manufacturing, attracting and stimulating investment, and creating new jobs for Victoria.
Minister Carroll said, “We want Victoria and Australia to
make great things, creating more secure and sustainable jobs, with decent wages and good prospects. That’s the future we will create – a future that is made in Victoria.”
“The ‘Made in Victoria 2030’ initiative signals the government’s desire to work in partnership with industry, and APPMA was pleased to have been in the room alongside such strong industry contenders,” Moran said.
“Governments, both federal and state, are prioritising manufacturing as a key pillar of their economic policies, with this statement reinforcing the Victorian Government’s commitment to, and future investment in, Advanced Manufacturing,” Moran said.
Seven major announcements were made at the event, including a $7m low carbon grants program to help decarbonise industry and tackle low emissions.
Moran said, “No doubt we will learn more about what these strategies entail following the upcoming state election.”
APPMA grows membership base Continuous industry engagement and activity, across multiple events and including the Machinery Matters publication, is helping reinforce the value of APPMA membership
